Costa Rica limit to the north with Nicaragua (309 km of border) and to the south-southeast with Panama (330 km of border). Costa Rica compiled a zone of 51,100 km²: 50,660 km² land and 440 km² water, smaller than West Virginia, US.

The highest point is Cerro Chirripo, volcanic mountain with 3,810 m (part of Cerro Chirripo National Park, on a clear day, it is possible to see both the Caribbean and the Pacific from the peak) of elevation, the lowest point level in the country is the Pacific Ocean at sea level.
